What all this work needs is some common trustee board that has the best philosophic and religous and civil experts to build this correctly. The classic case of software driving car that faces a save me or save other(s) is a profound change in how we form society and how to determine acceptable behavior. Now, having just wrote that, I thought, we have total cranks leading this country and others: in other words we are not perfect. Some argue we are because of our creator and we are gods. Well, we can build better systems than the human in many ways. Redundancy is something engineering does all the time yet the optic nerve in the eye can be damaged by too much fluid in the eye, (glaucoma or ocular hypertension) and the damage is progressive and unstoppable at this time. It seems that there would be an alternative route for photons to get to the brain for processing. All major projects I worked on for networking and large system development require a failover plan. The ones that don’t, money is the blame. So God must have run out of cash to add a backup path to the brain. So we have, with the ability of transfering knowledge and information to anyone and everywhere, built a collective conscious, work machines and attempted to control nature to bad results. What is going to be the final judgement on our actions? No killing? No war? A economic system that controls extremes, actually forming a global civilization. That is what many think we can do, if we have the imagination and persistence to overcome the existing power foundation, holding us back, for nothing more than money as the justification. One machine to rule them all: A ‘Master Algorithm’ may emerge sooner than you think
