Google and Human Behavior

Lately, I find mobile technology and the online world of search, social media and news to be less and less effective.  Why would that be? I have spent the last years reading and watching lectures on the latest discoveries and knowledge on subjects I never had time to follow while trying to keep up with changes in a domain like IT at AT&T for the last decade, where I was a solutions architect.

I kind of was expecting better things, less intrusive systems, more secure, easier not harder to use, more smartphone designs, more sensors.  But what happened was this monster of an idea following the free TV with Ads business model that seems to satisfy most people.  Oh yea, our understanding of human behavior is orders of magnitude greater than when TV emerged.  What that tells us is advertising, games and social platforms have enormous impacts on our behavior including how genes operate!

So I am looking for where to buy a car in this new place I am living and the search in google returns screens full of ads  and hardly any  information.  I am using information in all its meanings.  If we wanted to measure the amount of information in a lame useless ad using Shannon’s laws of information theory, they would be less than this post!
