Just when you thought you heard enough, US Youth Soccer has a big problem of embezzlement. Well, so does FIFA. So does Illinois, Mexico, Russia, Washington…. Are there more cheats and lies and backstabbing people out there now days? Give me some grant money and I’ll do a study. But I think there are because religion and the fear of a day of judgement has lost much of its controlling influence with their own scandals revealing their humanity, for too long leaders have set bad examples for the rest rather than being leaders.
Keeping the theme of the impact of rapid, revolutionary technology change on socioeconomic systems and impact on real people, as wealth is funneled to the few that dominate the changing world, there are things that seem to repeat regardless. The power of authority is concentrated in new areas. These do not have the legitamacy of tranditional political structures. Marx can be referenced without comparing the US and Soviet Union and the narrow, short-sighted belief that history ended with the fall of the Berlin Wall. Marx described accurately, what happens in a capitalistic system mroe accurately than Adam Smith. Or perhaps, his description was just another side of the same coin. Individual corporations that make the right moves and have the size and capital to apply to the new technology to dominate their business area. Existing political power structures are ill-equiped to react fast enough to understand impacts and leave gaps that captial rushes in to fill the vacuum created a self-feeding increase in power, dominance and distrupting established social commerce.
What that means is the average adult is reassesing how to survive in this new environment and what is acceptable and not becomes fluid; driving people to their Churches or personal moral compass to decide what is right and wrong. America is particulary suceptable to extremism with its religious, Puritan live-to-work ideaologies.
