Apple’s iPhone 7 Could Launch on September 16 – Fortune:
The days of waiting for a new iPhone like a kid on Christmas morning are gone. The designs of modern smart phones are pretty standard and the press is focusing on the tiny details that might change in the physical design and look. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be significant enhancements going forward.
These gadgets are amazing computers with environmental sensors built in which is why there is an endless list of ideas of how to use all that hardware capacity in someone’s hand. Photography has been a big area of development with decent lenses but more importantly, all the software for doing all the photographers workflow available on your phone. Productivity apps, financial tracking and planning and the Health Kit are other areas where the surface has just been scratched(pun intended). And the biggest area coming next will be the expansion of the personal assistant that understands natural language. Google just published its API which utilizes its speech analysis engine that is built on machine learning.
I for one slow typer, will be more than happy when Siri or Viv can do everything via voice. The swipe keyboards have helped but perhaps 20 years of coding and typing is taking its toll on my finger dexterity.
I still have my regular 6 and will be looking forward to upgrading to the 7 this year.
