It could be I have been focusing on other subjects and areas but I don’t think so. The security stuff, the AI machine-learning breakthroughs, cloud apps, the web2.0 mashups and I get the programmableWeb‘s newsletter but haven’t been reading them. This is the coolest thing I have seen in a long time. It is like Visual Basic was to a C++ programmer. FINALLY somebody has learned that you can do things a lot faster if you don’t customize “standard” interfaces. Anyways, these guys provide this simple if this than that algorithm but when you think Internet of Things you can start getting pretty complex workflow programs for your life or for your hobby if its digital.
Example. I discovered this Sunday and I have 12 “recipes” (??? qute). Mostly I am just copy something I do in one tool and put it in another. Why? It’s a social media thing. You don’t know if a picture should be on tumblr or Facebook. Or what about with a tweet? And the other two sites you opened accounts so family could see pictures and they all use different services. This is the SOA of the IoTs.
Because….most of the channels are the Smart Home devices or things. Because you can also take the data and put it in a google spreadsheet or Evernote along with performing some physical action like lock my car.
I am sure I will think of issues with this. One is that it needs your credentials to log in to each “channel” service or app so that’s one more place with collection of data. Ummmm, NSA would like an app like that.
