This subject can get my blood pressure up like few others: private prisons is another. The whole system of using credit scoring by Private secret algorithms is unjust. And it has only gotten worse as credit scores are used for non-financial decisions such as insurance, employment etc. Now, companies are gathering massive amounts of data about everyone that should allow them to predict just about everything. So the basic idea of group insurance is falling away and everyone is being individually evaluated and charged for any additional risk. This breaks down society and creates what we are experiencing now in America more than anywhere else. Everyone against everyone else in a winner take all and us against them. Most people just accept that is the way things are and have to be.
When the Soviet Union fell, a large number of conservative leaders believed that history was over. Humans had determined the best economic and political system that could not be improved, thus capitalism/democracy is the perfect system for society.
But this year, the rise of populist movement is finally showing there are things that need to change. Until we can get our government to represent the people again though, the change will not happen.
In other words, get the bribery out of politics.
