After watching some youtube video on the f-117 and the f-22 steath airplanes I find out that the retired the f-117 in 2008 and have significantly reduced the number of f-22 to be produced. Now they are building the f-35 which will replace both but is famously overbudget and delivery date. First of all, the F-117 was an attack airplane that proved itself in the gulf wars and other places. It is meant to attack ground targets. The F-22 was meant to be an air-to-air fighter. Those are two different missions. We now have a strategy that is betting everything on the F-35 to provide air and ground attack capabilities. The F-117 was not that expensive and its mission is more relevant today than ever. It seems as though UAVs are the future.
