That got me thinking about how we as humans treat each other and everywhere you go and look, there are the different tribes and members of one almost always dislike or hate another group that is different. We like to admire the Scandinavian countries in how their societies cooperate so well. That could be because of their population sees itself as one tribe. That has changed in many European countries with immigration from Africa and Middle East.
When it turns ugly is when leaders try to exploit those differences and blame the other tribes for everything and encourage violence.
It takes effort to bring different people together for a single purpose. Thus wars. Nationalism brings a country’s people together to project their fear and hate to another Nation as if humans born somewhere else are by definition not like us.
Most Americans have accepted the idea that we are different and exceptional. WTF. Go to another country and get to know people. They have the same problems and dreams and fears as we do. They have kids, want them to get educated and be healthy…..There is little difference.
Our political leaders(not Obama) and religious leaders(not the Pope) support separation and ignorance. Trump is one of the worse and people need to think about that before adopting the childish slogan of Make America Great Again.
